This is a comprehensive conference for health professionals in the oncology field, like surgical oncologists, radiation oncologists, medicine oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, and technologists.
The spotlight of this year’s conference will be “SAARC young oncologist session,” featuring the best young oncologists from each SAARC country will represent their own country’s cancer care scenario. This conference holds special significance for young oncologists under 40. Each year, the outstanding research paper from this group is honored with the ABMF Gold Medal. Since 2012, this award has recognized the best research contributions from young oncologists.
Dr. Sumon was awarded “ABMF GOLD MEDAL” for best paper at the 11th SAARC Federation of Oncology Cancer Congress in 2016.
In addition, there will be a SAARC session where country leaders will discuss how to deal with unique challenges by unique solutions.
The SAARC Federation of Oncologists (SFO) was established by the council of ministers of the SAARC member countries to improve collaboration and cordiality among the health professionals working in the field of oncology and encourage research and work on the development of cancer diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and so on.
The urge to build a federation and strengthen cancer care in the SAARC region was felt in a SAARC conference on clinical oncology arranged by Prof. A.B.M.F. Karim in March 2001.
